For 100 years, Bongongo Angus has been dedicated to breeding functional, profitable Angus cattle for Australian beef producers.

Established in 1926, Bongongo is one of Australia's oldest registered Angus studs. Four generations later, our commitment to producing quality Angus genetics remains as strong as ever. Today, the stud is proudly operated by Bill and Shauna Graham, alongside their daughter Georgia, whose passion for cattle breeding and genetics continues the family's legacy into its second century.

Located in the heart of southern New South Wales, Bongongo Angus runs more than 1500 registered Angus females. Our cattle are managed across different properties, allowing us to breed cattle that are adaptable, resilient and capable of performing in a range of production environments.

Our home property, Riverview, sits on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River at Gobarralong, between Jugiong and Coolac. Additional breeding herds are run at Adjungbilly, with its higher rainfall and colder winters, and at Tumblong, providing a milder environment that complements our breeding program.

Every breeding decision is guided by a simple philosophy: to produce fertile, structurally sound, quiet, efficient cattle that deliver lasting value for our clients. By combining over a century of practical breeding experience with veterinary knowledge, performance recording, artificial insemination, embryo transfer and genomic technology, we continue to build genetics that meet the demands of modern beef production.

About Us

Bongongo Angus runs over 1500 registered breeders today based across properties located in Gobarralong, Adjungbilly and Tumblong — properties said to complement one another across the beef breeding enterprise.

With a career as a large animal veterinarian specialising in cattle reproduction, Bill brings decades of practical experience and technical expertise to the Bongongo breeding program. His understanding of cattle fertility, reproduction and genetics has been instrumental in continually advancing the herd.

Bongongo has embraced innovation for generations. Artificial Insemination (AI) was first introduced into the herd in 1974, and over the past 45 years the extensive use of AI and Embryo Transfer (ET) has enabled the stud to access top Angus genetics from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

These genetics are carefully evaluated and combined with comprehensive performance recording through Breedplan, genomic testing and rigorous structural assessment. Every breeding decision is guided by one simple principle—to produce sound, fertile and functional cattle that perform under commercial Australian conditions.

While breeding technologies continue to evolve, our philosophy remains unchanged. We use the best available tools to accelerate genetic progress, but never lose sight of the fundamentals: fertile cows, structurally sound cattle, practical performance and genetics that deliver long-term profitability for our clients.
