Visit to Bongongo for Japanese Beef delegation

A group of very important Japanese visitors and representatives from the Japanese Embassy visited Gundagai on 25th January 2008 as part of the 30th annual Japanese/Australian Beef Talks.

Three Japanese officials, headed by Director of Meat and Egg Division of Ministry of Agriculture Koji Makimoto, along with other representatives from the Japanese embassy in Canberra and Sydney attended a sale at the Gundagai Saleyards. David Inall, Executive Director of the Cattle Council Australia was on hand to explain how the NLIS operates to allow tracking from birth on the property through to the end processed product.

After the sale the group visited us at Riverview and had a look at some of the Bongongo angus cattle. It was great to show them Bongongo Bulletproof Z3 who is currently top in the rankings for his Jap B3 index. A full brother to Bulletproof was also on show - Bongongo NGXB270. The Japanese delegation enjoyed their visit to a rural property and the opportunity to learn more about how we produce beef here in Australia. They enjoyed lunch at Riverview before heading to Wagga to visit the Veterinary Department within Charles Sturt University.
